R&D Software System Engineer

Software System Engineer with strong experience in Android rugged platforms and open source technologies, capable of coordinating international development teams and collaborating with global ODM partners. The role involves system integration, AOSP/BSP customization, hardware–software bring up, and release validation across distributed engineering groups. Key strengths include leading technical discussions with overseas teams, aligning cross functional development efforts, managing platform deliverables, and driving issue resolution across time zones
Main responsibilities:
- Collaborate with software, hardware, and ODM teams to define the system architecture of Android based rugged devices.
- Support AOSP and BSP, Middle ware integration, including kernel customization, device tree configuration, and HAL layer adaptation for enterprise grade components.
- Manage and coordinate technical aspects with ODM partners, software, hardware teams, including requirement definition, software release evaluation, issue monitor & analysis, and acceptance of platform deliveries.
- Manage the Android security features process (e.g. monthly security updates).
- Manage the process for automated test tools and CI/CD pipelines for Android platform builds (build systems, OTA updates, certification tests).
- Document system designs, platform changes, and integration processes across the entire software stack.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of Android system architecture, including Frameworks, HAL, BSP, and kernel layers.
- Experience with AOSP build systems, SoC vendor trees (e.g., Qualcomm, MediaTek, NXP), and ODM provided customizations.
- Experience with embedded software development and integration of enterprise/industrial peripherals driver (2D imagers, UHF RFID, UWB, serial UART accessories, custom I/O…).
- Strong experience with Git and CI/CD systems supporting Android builds and automated testing.
- Experience with Software Development lifecycle (Agile or Waterfall) and Software Release process.
- Knowledge of Software validation scope and process
- Knowledge of Android security architecture and secure update management (OTA, FOTA, update channels).
- Previous experience working with ODMs or third party on custom Android device development, issue triage, and delivery validation.
- Excellent written and spoken English, required for daily interaction with ODM and SoC vendors.

- Ability to collaborate closely with Software, Hardware, QA, PM, and UX teams across the full product lifecycle.
- Strong analytical and debugging mindset, able to work at kernel, hardware, and application interfaces.
- Clear and effective communication skills (especially when interacting with ODM or international technical teams).
- Strong Project management and Time management skills
- Proactive, detail oriented, and comfortable working in fast paced R&D environments.
- Passion for development of rugged mobile computing products, Android internals.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, or related fields.
- Language: Excellent written and spoken English, required for daily interaction with ODM and SoC vendors.
- Years of Experience: 3+ year experience with Android system development, emdedded platforms, or rugged device engineering, 1+ year experience with project management

- Direct experience on Android rugged products (enterprise mobility, warehouse/industrial devices).
- Experience with Android Enterprise APIs, device certification (GMS, SafetyNet/Play Integrity), and enterprise MDM enrollment flows.
- Contributions to AOSP or relevant open source projects.
