JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Technical Writer you will produce high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our products. You will work collaboratively with product engineers, quality engineers, product managers, and usability experts to make our products easier to use. 

You will empower internal and external engineers worldwide who use Skedulo to manage their mobile workforce as a Technical Writer working on software development products. To support our clients with a diversity of technical skill levels in using Skedulo for their specific use case, you will write user, admin, and developer guides.

Our writers work closely with cross-functional product development teams, operating in an Agile environment as well as between departments to ensure that everyone is getting the information they need. We expect our writers to be able to research and build up a knowledge base and form opinions on how best to present information. We value writers who are able to contribute to the improvement of our content strategies, processes, and ways of working with teams. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Write technical documentation for internal and external audiences, including user guides, API reference docs, and developer guides. 
  • Meet with development teams and product managers to track feature development.
  • Design and organize documentation sets for new product features. 
  • Proofread and copy edit documents written by other writers and subject matter experts to ensure technical writing best practices, style, voice, and grammatical correctness are applied in all externally facing documentation.
  • Review and share input on UI copy.
  • Perform maintenance and upliftment tasks on existing documentation to keep them current and of a high standard.
  • Manage documentation projects and tasks so that work progress is easily tracked by stakeholders.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Excellent English writing ability with above-average knowledge of English grammar. IELTS (or similar test) score average above 7.
  • Good interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working as a technical writer in a software development environment.
  • A technical background, aptitude, or interest in software development.
  • Collaborative writer who is comfortable working with remote teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with a user-centric approach to documentation.
  • Detail-oriented with strengths in concise and structured writing.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Bachelor’s or technical degree in engineering, science, English language, communications, or similar.
  • Knowledge of Docs as code principles and methodologies.
  • An understanding of Agile software development and the document development life cycle.
  • Experience with Markdown, HTML, and CSS.
  • Knowledge of software development project management tools like Atlassian Confluence and Jira.
  • Experience the following: 
    • Git and Github 
    • Salesforce
    • US English
